Social Determinants of Health Data Users Group

Addressing Food Insecurity

Please join us at the next Social Determinants of Health Data Users Group meeting via webinar on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 1pm EST.  The Social Determinants of Health Data Users group provides a space for community organizations interested in addressing the social determinants of health(SDH) to come together to share information and ideas, learn about community programs currently addressing SDH, and engage in dialogue to form relationships with key players.

This quarter we will be focusing on how health centers and community organizations have been addressing food insecurity and hunger. Access to nutritional, affordable food plays a significant role in someone’s diet and ultimately their overall health. Amy Carter, Director of Outpatient Nutrition and Thomas Thaman, Director of Food and Nutrition from Eskenazi health will share information on Eskenazi’s programs and services that help reduce hunger in central Indiana. We will also have Naima Gardner, Grassroots Director from American Heart Association and the Healthy Food Access Coalition discuss their statewide advocacy efforts around improving access to food for Hoosiers.

The link to the webinar and call-in information will be sent to you once you have registered online at the IPHCA website.  We encourage you to share this message so that other community partners and staff at your organization may participate in the conversation as well. Please contact Jasmine Page, jpage@indianapca.org or (317) 630-0852 with any questions.
